Just a note to say that I have not died, and I know what I want to write for the short story prize, and I will write it sometime this week. Really. In this unscripted and largely unedited installment, I tell you: –I’m a Parsec finalist, and Norm Sherman and company will be standing in for me at Dragon Con. –My short story “Miranda and the Butterfly” is up at the Dunesteef. –I have a poem “Coral Reef” on Wander Radio. –I read “Toast” for the The Drabblecast. I also answer some listener questions about feline society, my writing habits, and full cast audio vs. solo reads. In one place, I said “Canisaria,” when I meant “Filinia.” I also sometimes say “read,” when I mean “listen.” Wow, guys. The third Prophet book, Fire and Flood, is a finalist for the Parsec awards in Novella catagory! This means significant exposure, even if I don’t win. Check out the other finalists and read more about the Parsecs on the website. Hughes and I did the drawing on the 13th, but I haven’t had time to edit it until today. I will be writing a short story about Sevn for Lance. Hughes and I also give a list and discussion of all the podcasts we listen to. The discussion is not child-safe. Promos I played: FETIDUS (both the faux add and the promo) and The Dunesteef. Click for the not-entirely-kid-safe list of podcasts I listen to. If you want to subscribe to any of them them, and you use iTunes, I’d recommend just searching them there. This doesn’t include all of Hughes’s list, which he’ll have to give me if he wants me to post.
Two more weeks until the drawing on July 12th! Write a review and email me at hilton at fauness dot com for a chance to win a short story about the character of your voice. I also announce that Cowry Catchers will be launching on December 12th. I have a wonderful set of voice actors for that story, and I’m excited about it! Hi, guys! As I warned you, I’m living at a distant clinical site, where I work about 60 hours per week. I haven’t written the Gabalon story yet, nor would I have been able to podcast it if I had, but I do have the idea for it. I might find time to type it out this week-end; we’ll see. In the meantime, if you just want to hear my voice in something, I’ve done a lot of voice work for the Dunesteef in the last month. I’m in the following episodes. They’re rated about PG13. In Absence Of Mind Wiping Thingies by Derek J. Goodman I’ll try to get the story done soon, and I have gotten a lot of work done on the Cowry Catchers podcast, so that’s on track. 1. Prophet made the iTunes featured list (podcast > arts > literature) and has been oscillating between pages 3 and 5 for the last few days. 2. A story I sold to the Greatest Uncommon Denominator (GUD) just came out in print! The story is called Forests of the Night, and it’s about a very old woman who arrives in a nursing home and is more than she appears. You can buy my story all by itself as a PDF for $1.33, a PDF of the entire issue for $3.50, or the paper magazine for $10. 3. I made a tentative video trailer for Cowry Catchers. It’s not the final version, but you can have a look. Hi, guys! I’m sorry that it took me the better part of a week to get this edited. Hughes and I rambled a lot, but at least it’s now under an hour. You can listen and find out who the winner is. I won’t spoil it for you. Characters mentioned by people who sent me email were: Gabalon Stuff Hughes and I mentioned included: The drawing is done, and we have a winner! But you will not know who until I have time to clean up the audio later this week. Whahaha! |
